Kayne Anderson Energy Development Company Increases Its Quarterly Distribution to $0.53 per Share for Q1 2015, Announces NAV of $29.72 per Share as of February 28, 2015

(NYSE:KED) Kayne Anderson Energy Development Company (the “Company” or “KED”) announced today a quarterly distribution of $0.53 per share for the quarter ended February 28, 2015. This distribution represents an increase of 1.0% over the prior quarterly distribution and an increase of 3.9% over the same period last year.

The distribution will be payable on April 24, 2015 to common stockholders of record on April 17, 2015, with an ex-dividend date of April 15, 2015. The Company estimates that none of this distribution will be treated as a return of capital for tax purposes. This estimate is based on the Company’s anticipated earnings and profits for fiscal 2015 and its accumulated earnings and profits as of February 28, 2015 (including gains and losses on sales of securities during the three months ended February 28, 2015). The Company’s estimate does not include a projection of gains or losses on the sale of securities for the remainder of fiscal 2015. The final determination of the tax character of the distribution will be made in early 2016 when the Company can determine its actual earnings and profits for the full year (including gains and losses on the sale of securities for the remainder of fiscal 2015) and may differ substantially from this preliminary information.

The Company announced that its net asset value (NAV) as of February 28, 2015 was $312.9 million or $29.72 per share.

KED holds an interest in Plains AAP, L.P. (“PAA GP”), which controls the general partner of Plains All American, L.P. KED’s ownership of PAA GP is exchangeable into shares of Plains GP Holdings, L.P. (which trades on the NYSE under the ticker “PAGP”) on a one-for-one basis at KED’s option.
