Books-A-Million Customers Donate Over 50,000 Bags of Coffee to U.S. Troops and Veterans

Books-A-Million and its customers once again showed their support for U.S. troops and veterans with the Coffee for the Troops campaign. Customers purchased 50,125 bags of Joe Muggs coffee for donation and Books-A-Million contributed 11,292, bringing the total number of donations to 61,417. Books-A-Million’s customers alone reached the goal of 50,000 that was set for the campaign.

The donated coffee is distributed to U.S. troops and veterans through Books-A-Million’s partners in the program, Soldiers’ Angels.

“We appreciate Books-A-Million and the thousands of customers who support our organization and the men and women serving in our Armed Forces,” said Amy Palmer, President and CEO of Soldiers’ Angels. “Without their generous support we would not be able to provide these goods to troops deployed overseas and veteran patients at VA Hospitals. These generous coffee donations give them a true taste of home and lets them know that they are not forgotten.”

Coffee for the Troops is in its seventh campaign and total donations have exceeded 240,000 bags of Joe Muggs coffee. Books-A-Million contributes one bag for every five customer donations.

“Our customers have a deep appreciation for the sacrifices our veterans and troops have made for this country. We are continually overwhelmed by the support they show them through this program,” said Natalie Blankenship, Café Buyer for Books-A-Million. “Thankfully we have a great partner in Soldiers’ Angels to get these donations where they are needed most.”

Customers were able to leave a personalized message on each bag, showing troops and veterans their appreciation for their service. Donations to the Coffee for the Troops campaign have exceeded Books-A-Million’s goal each year.
