But most of the spas in the country are very poorly maintained and have little regard to the health and safety requirements that the state has imposed on them. There are several dangers of visiting an unclean spa which are briefly discussed below.
Heated baths are a very good breeding place for an infectious disease called Legionnaires disease that can be extremely deadly in worst scenarios and can lead to serious health concerns for an individual affected with it. Studies conducted out in communal baths and spas have revealed that they are a breeding ground for different kinds of skin diseases and provide an ideal place for the viruses and germs to travel from one host to another.
Most of the Spas don’t change water in their pools and instead toss some chlorine in the water to keep it clean, but chlorine is not effective in killing the organisms that found in the water and does little impact on the germs and bacteria that are present in the water. In different samples collected from different spas, the researchers were able to find a range of foreign bodies like urine, feces and thousands of different types of germs and micro-organisms that can be extremely harmful to our health.
Dermatologists and skin experts suggest that break in an infected person’s skin can infect the entire pool that can become an active host for the disease and can easily transmit to other people who are using the pool with the infected individual. A small tear in the skin is enough to provide an entryway for thousands of micro-organisms and bacteria to travel in your blood stream and infect you.
Different tools and towels that are used in the spas are not well treated either they carry the similar bacteria and diseases. Most of the spas don’t have proper methods of dealing with soiled towels that can carry different particles of skin, bacteria and germs within them. The warm and humid environment of spa and salons also provide an ideal breeding ground for these bacteria.
