Higher Open As Ukraine Tensions Ease

Easing tensions in Ukraine lifted the markets to higher open with the Dow soaring 110 points to 16,58. Nasdaq gained 33 points to 4313. 

On the upside 

MagneGas (Nasdaq: MNGA) extended its gains.

Prosena Holding (Nasdaq: RNA) reported encouraging 48-week data from a Phase II study of drisapersen in treating Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Alphatec Holdings (Nasdaq: ATEC) settled ongoing litigation with OrthoTec by agreeing to pay $49 million over the next 7 years.

On the downside

Galena Biopharma (Nasdaq: GALE) disclosed that the Securities and Exchange Commission was investigating the company for engaging in a stock promotion campaign. 

NewLead Holdings (Nasdaq: NEWL) extended its losses.

Global Geophysical Services (NYSE: GGS) must restate past financial reports due to accounting errors.

In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 3 to 1 on the NYSE and by nearly 2 to 1 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 gained 12 points to 1871. Bitcoin slipped $10.47 or 1.69% to $609.83.
