Pristine Agency Reviews Changes in Airline Security for 2016

By: PRLog
In 2016, flying is going to be more difficult in some cities and territories due to changes in boarding and airline security. Pristine Agency addresses these changes and what they may mean to Americans traveling by air.
HENDERSON, Nev. - Oct. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Not very long ago, getting on a plane was simple. Security was minimal and all you needed to get on board was a ticket. Unfortunately, September 11, 2001, changed our world forever. Now, the next phase of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's program called the "REAL ID" program will make it more difficult for terrorists to make their way onto American flights. This means that boarding will be more difficult for the average person in some states as well.

Starting in 2016, some states will no longer accept a traditional driver's license for boarding. Instead, an Enhanced Driver's License or other REAL ID form of identification will be required for boarding flights. States and territories who will see these changes in 2016 are those which still do not have IDs which are considered compliant with the standards set by the REAL ID Act of 2005 and include the states/territories of New Hampshire, Minnesota, New York, Louisiana and American Samoa. People traveling by plane in these areas will be required to not only have their ID but also will be required to carry passports or another form of approved identification, even if traveling within the United States. Those who do not have this additional ID can be denied boarding.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's FAQ, compliant IDs are those which include "machine-readable technology." Any state which has not included this type of technology in their licenses will be required to present an additional form of ID when boarding. Those who do not have access to REAL ID Cards or compliant identification in their state can still board planes if they bring additional ID such as a passport or passport card, Department of Homeland Security Trusted Traveler Cards including Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI and FAST, enhanced driver's license and other approved forms of identification found online at tsa.gov.

These and other concerns regarding the upcoming changes in airline security are addressed in more detail on the Department of Homeland Security's website. For more information about REAL ID, visit the DHS REAL ID FAQ here.
