GTSO: Edibles Recall Highlights Need for Newer, Better Cannabis Solutions

As demand grows for greater precautions and regulations in the booming U.S. cannabis industry, products in Colorado were recalled this week due to contamination by potentially harmful pesticides used during cultivation. Green Technology Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: GTSO) is working to market and develop new technologies to calm consumer anxieties and help avoid such costly recalls in the future.

Almost 30,000 packages of cannabis-infused edibles were recalled voluntarily in Colorado because independent tests found they contained potentially dangerous pesticides that are not approved for use on cannabis crops.

The latest recall is not the first time that cannabusinesses have struggled to meet state regulations regarding the use of pesticides in Colorado. In October, two cultivation facilities in Denver recalled a wide range of products after tests uncover pesticide residues. GTSO is preparing new solutions to help growers, retailers and customers eliminate potential concerns and contamination.

“The keys to solving this issue are rigorous and affordable testing as well as new alternatives to smoking or consuming the plant,” said GTSO CEO Wallace W. Browne. “That’s what we’re focusing on in the Colorado market at the moment.”

Earlier this year, GTSO acquired a Class 5 clean room where lab technicians can subject cannabis products to scientific testing protocols in a germ- and pest-free environment, ensuring that retailers and customers alike know exactly what’s in their cannabis edibles and other products. The company is also working to develop a transdermal cannabis patch—a breakthrough treatment option that could eliminate many of the concerns associated with potential pesticide contamination.

As the demand for cannabis continues to grow across the nation, GTSO plans to keep building new tools to help wholesalers and retailers guarantee their products’ potency, consistency and safety in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
