About The Event

Join us for an evening of insight and discussion about how collaborative investments and a community-wide approach to education are slowly changing the narrative of Northeast Ohio from a story of decline, to a story of hope and optimism. Join a distinguished list of CEOs who are partners in the Broadway P-16 Educational Program with a keynote address by John Bridgeland, CEO of Civic Enterprises, whose work on the high school dropout crisis helped bring national attention to the issue from national media like TIME magazine’s “Dropout Nation,” and Oprah Winfrey’s shows on the topic. The forum will share best practices on how to develop the community partnerships needed to produce real results, such as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s American Graduate: Let’s Make It Happen national initiative.

Keynote Speaker:
John Bridgeland, CEO, Civic Enterprises

Moderator:
Rick Jackson, Morning Edition Host and Producer, WVIZ/PBS ideastream

Distinguished Panel:
Dr. Akram Boutros, M.D., President and CEO, MetroHealth
Eric Gordon, CEO, Cleveland Metropolitan School District
Marc Stefanski, Chairman and CEO, Third Federal
Jerry Wareham, President and CEO of WVIZ/PBS ideastream

About Cleveland State University’s Levin College of Urban Affairs

Known as the place "where the community gathers to discuss challenges, create opportunities, and celebrate accomplishments," the Levin College Forum Program is a catalyst for thoughtful public debate, innovative thinking, new ideas, and timely action addressing critical issues that impact Northeast Ohio. Since its inception in 1998, the Forum has tackled a broad range of civic issues including the lakefront plan, economic growth and development, affordable housing, immigration, education, the convention center, poverty, race and sustainable development. The work of the forum is based on the premise that an informed and engaged citizenry is a valuable asset for the region's future growth and prosperity. The public deliberation that takes place at the Forums is intended to educate, inspire and engage. In 2005, the Forum was recognized by Northern Ohio Live as "a springboard for economic and social progress throughout the region" and in 2003 received the national CivicMind award for its Millennium Program, which worked with area high school students to introduce them to careers in public service.
