NTRR: Cannabis Industry Still Seeks Alternatives as Pesticides Worries Linger

Nearly a month into the new year, the U.S. cannabis industry’s pesticide problem is not going away: Testing and regulations are growing stricter than ever in new markets such as Oregon. Neutra Corp. (OTCQB: NTRR) is working to solve the problem for good by delivering newer, better solutions for pest control.

Earlier this month, the Oregon Department of Agriculture removed the pesticide Guardian Mite Spray from the state’s list of approved chemicals for cannabis cultivation after tests detected the presence of a potentially harmful chemical not listed on the product’s label. State officials notified the EPA about the mislabeled ingredient and issued a notice advising growers to stop using the product and retailers to stop selling it.

The incident is only the latest problem that has arisen due to official health concerns in the cannabis industry. Many pest-control products used in agriculture have not been approved for products intended to be consumed or smoked, and public fears about these harsh chemicals have led to increasing scrutiny and regulation. NTRR is working to help the industry sidestep the problem by offering up alternatives.

NTRR is marketing new, potentially healthier alternatives to harsh chemicals in cannabis cultivation. Alongside joint venture partner Surface to Air Solutions (S2O2), the company offers cannabis growers and other businesses a suite of horticultural products—including a plant stimulant, an air-scrubber and a self-cleaning hard surface treatment—that helps keep plants and surfaces free from mold, powdery mildew, botrytis, and mites. Used together, the suite of products allows healthy plants to thrive without the use of pesticides and fungicides.

With analysts predicting that the U.S. cannabis industry could grow by another six states in 2016, NTRR plans to unveil many new products to capitalize on the historic growth of cannabis throughout North America.
