Navigant Announces Managing Director Promotions

Today, Navigant announced the promotion of 11 of the Firm’s professionals to Managing Director.

Matthew Arenchild, Ph.D., Energy Segment – Folsom, CA

Arenchild has over 20 years of experience in consulting, primarily assisting clients on their activities in wholesale energy markets. His current project work is largely focused on analyses of wholesale energy markets for clients seeking to merge with or acquire other entities as well as conducting regulatory evaluations, such as whether an entity should be allowed to participate at market-based rates and other market power concerns. Arenchild regularly testifies on behalf of his clients on these high-profile matters. He has led teams to develop models and databases in order to implement various analyses and has also led electric market compliance and manipulation investigations. He currently serves as Navigant’s Folsom, CA office director.

Darin Bielby, Disputes, Forensics and Legal Technology Segment – Philadelphia, PA

Bielby has more than 22 years of experience assisting clients and their advisors with their critical legal, compliance, technology, regulatory, and financial challenges. His clients include Fortune 500 corporations, multinational law firms, global insurance companies, and private equity firms representing numerous industries, including pharmaceuticals, managed care health insurers, technology, healthcare, financial services, construction, real estate, manufacturing, and energy. His tenure at Navigant has given him an impressive understanding of the solutions offered by Navigant, which enables him to position the right experts to help clients with domestic and international issues.

Dan Bradley, Energy Segment – Austin, TX

Bradley has 15+ years of experience consulting within the energy sector. He leads the global Energy segment’s client sector for manufacturers, investors, and law firms where he is focused on global market dynamics impacting the energy sector and the opportunities and risks the dynamics create for manufacturing clients. His industry experience includes investor-owned and government-owned utilities in North America, regulated and deregulated, technology and commodity procurement, energy markets, and resource strategy.

Jerry Chang, CFA, Financial Risk & Compliance Segment – Atlanta, GA

Chang joined Navigant in 2004 and specializes in valuation, financial, and transaction advisory services for a wide variety of client needs. These needs include valuation advisory services to clients during the merger and acquisition process, regulatory compliance, strategic planning, litigation/arbitration support, financial reporting, and tax compliance. Chang has served clients in many industries over his 20+ year career, including healthcare, aerospace/defense, consumer products, industrial products, telecom, media, and technology. He currently leads valuations for the healthcare industry vertical where he is a widely recognized expert. He holds both the Series 79 and 63 licenses, and is a registered representative of Navigant Capital Advisors, LLC, Navigant’s broker-dealer subsidiary. Chang is also the co-leader of the company’s Asian-Ancestry Employee Resource Group and is a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Council.

Steven Hilfer, Disputes, Forensics & Legal Technology Segment – New York

Hilfer specializes in RMBS (Residential Mortgage Backed Securities), CDOs (Collateralized Debt Obligations) and CLOs (Collateralized Loan Obligations). He has more than 30 years' experience in these products and has a unique mix of quantitative, analytical, valuation, trading, sales, documentation and structuring expertise. He has submitted expert reports and provided expert testimony in matters relating to RMBS and CDOs. Before joining Navigant in 2011, Hilfer had a 20 year career at Credit Suisse/DLJ, where he was head of the U.S. CDO banking and structuring team. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Credit Suisse and DLJ originating, structuring and executing Collateralized Bond Obligations (CBOs) and CLOs.

Richard Kando, Financial, Risk & Compliance Segment – New York

Kando started working at Navigant in 2010 through Navigant’s acquisition of Daylight Forensic & Advisory, LLC. Prior to joining Daylight, Kando served as a Special Agent for the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation Division. For Navigant, Kando has led compliance projects, internal investigations and forensic accounting/criminal defense matters for law firms and their clients including international financial institutions and individuals. He also has forensic accounting expert witness testimony experience. Recently, Kando has been almost entirely focused on providing Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) compliance and cross-border criminal tax investigative services. He has his CPA license and is also certified in financial forensics. Kando also serves as the New York, NY office internship coordinator.

Jonathan Marshall, Disputes, Forensics & Legal Technology Segment – London, UK

Marshall has been an integral part of the Navigant’s Disputes, Forensics & Legal Technology segment since joining through the Firm’s acquisition of Ignited Discovery in 2011. Since 2013, he has helped to build that business to a leader in the eDisclosure and Digital Forensics industries in the UK. He specializes in advising corporations and legal teams with all aspects related to data driven events including relevant data identification and preservation, forensic collections, electronic disclosure, business application management, managed review, and production specifications. Marshall has over 10 years’ experience working in this capacity on behalf of, and for, legal teams representing organizations in financial services, energy, healthcare, construction, consumer goods, defense contracting, manufacturing, mining and technology.

Ken Seiden, Ph.D., Energy Segment – Boulder, CO

Seiden has been providing strategic planning and quantitative analytics expertise to electric and gas companies for over 25 years. He joined Navigant in 2012 and has led numerous evaluations and market studies across energy-efficiency, demand response, and customer behavioral programs for utilities across North America. Seiden employs an active, hands-on approach with his project teams, and particularly enjoys assignments where deliverables include the transfer of analytical capabilities and modeling tools developed over the course of the effort. This approach has been particularly appropriate and fruitful in the context of the Smart Grid, where Seiden has led pioneering efforts to combine dynamic pricing evaluation with the deployment of utility-based analytics infrastructure capable of moving beyond the pilot stage to full-scale Smart Grid implementation.

Ashwin Singhania, Healthcare Segment – Los Angeles, CA

Singhania joined Navigant’s Healthcare segment in 2003. He has experience leading teams across a variety of global client stakeholders, including brand marketing, market access, new product planning, business development, and medical affairs. Singhania has worked across a variety of therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular disease, immunology, oncology, gastroenterology, dermatology, neuroscience, and ophthalmology. He is currently focused on building Navigant’s West Coast presence with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients in California. He also leads the Vanguard team in Healthcare, which is focused on identifying and implementing solutions to foster a positive and balanced work environment for Navigant consultants.

Martin Trautmann, Healthcare Segment – New York

Trautmann is a leader within Navigant’s Healthcare segment and co-leads the “Commercial Excellence” service line, which operates across Big Pharma, Specialty Pharma, MedTech, and Healthcare Technology clients. Under Trautmann’s direction, Navigant works with clients to execute large and complex pharmaceutical projects, such as product launches, post-merger integrations, setting up and managing alliances, transferring products or executing sales force related initiatives. He specializes in developing and supporting highly flexible, adaptable and innovative biopharmaceutical organizations. Trautmann has been in Life Sciences consulting for 15 years, evenly split between Europe and the U.S. He maintains an expertise in quantitative marketing and operations and business.

Jon Tomlin, Disputes, Forensics & Legal Technology Segment – Los Angeles, CA

Tomlin is an economist whose specialization over the last 20 years has been in the application of economics to legal issues, particularly in the areas of antitrust and the calculation of economic damages. He has over 20 published articles in the area of law and economics, including in peer-reviewed journals, books, and law reviews. He has served as an economic commentator for the on-line edition of Forbes and theStreet.com. His research has been cited in books, academic articles, newspaper articles, and court decisions. Since joining Navigant in 2010, Tomlin has served as a testifying expert in matters involving antitrust issues, class certification, intellectual property, economic damages, and the economic effects of regulations and contract terms.
