Harris Corporation Honors First Responders at Orlando Magic Game

Harris Corporation joined the Orlando Magic in honoring first responders during Sunday’s win over the Memphis Grizzlies, saluting police and corrections officers, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters and emergency medical personnel.

The event included the Guns ‘N Hoses basketball tournament among first responder agencies in Central Florida, with the Apopka Police Department winning the men’s category and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office taking first place in the women’s division. The Apopka men played the runner-up team from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office during a halftime exhibition match.

Harris Chairman, President and CEO Bill Brown joined Magic CEO Alex Martins during a halftime ceremony to thank first responders for all they do to keep communities safe and secure. They presented a $5,000 check to winners Apopka for the charity of its choice and a $2,500 check to second place Brevard County for the charity of its choice.

During the game, Harris and the Magic also hosted the Central Florida chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors as well as young men and chaperones from the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and Orlando Magic ambassador and former player Nick Anderson addressed the guests.
