Swedish Prosecutor Notifies Millicom That It Has Discontinued Its Preliminary Investigation Due to Lack of Jurisdiction

On 21 October 2015 Millicom (STO:MIC)(NASDAQ:MICC) issued a press release announcing that it had voluntarily reported to law enforcement authorities in the United States and Sweden potential improper payments made on behalf of the company’s joint venture in Guatemala.

On 4 May 2016 Millicom received notification from the Swedish Public Prosecutor that its preliminary investigation has been discontinued given that the alleged crime was in its entirety committed abroad, that there is no evidence available in Sweden, and that no Swedish citizen can be suspected of participation in the alleged crime abroad.

Millicom continues to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in the United States.
