“We love giving to the communities where our employees live and serve customers, and are excited for support from our partners the Dallas Cowboys and Frisco RoughRiders,” said Bill Clayton, Executive Director, Reliant and NRG Retail Charitable Foundation. “The Salvation Army is an exceptional organization that serves the critical needs of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and communities across the country. We are proud to lend them a hand through this fun event.”

Cowboys at the Frisco RoughRiders’ Dr Pepper Park home plate included Head Coach Jason Garrett, Brandon Carr, Barry Church, Tyrone Crawford, Jason Witten, Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, J.J. Wilcox and Terrance Williams. Salvation Army Major Barb Rich threw out the first ceremonial pitch. Cowboys rookies were also in attendance, lending their gloves to shag balls and interacting with kids in attendance.

“We are so grateful to our friends at Reliant for another exciting Home Run Derby event – one of our favorite traditions. There’s nothing our players enjoy more than a little friendly competition, especially when it’s for a cause we love like The Salvation Army,” said Charlotte Jones Anderson, Cowboys Executive Vice President/Chief Brand Officer.

This year, J.J. Wilcox successfully defended his title as Reliant Home Run Derby champion, winning the competition for the second year in a row and raising $11,300. Close behind was Coach Garrett, who raised $7,000.

Reliant supports local communities through volunteerism, charitable giving and partnerships with a variety of organizations, and in 2015 donated over $2.75 million to different causes. Last year’s Home Run Derby raised $50,000 for The Salvation Army, and over the course of five years the event has raised more than $330,000.
