Kaplan University’s School of Nursing MSN-Nurse Practitioner Program and Doctor of Nursing Practice Program Earn National Accreditation from CCNE

Kaplan University, a leader in higher education innovation, today announced that its School of Nursing Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program has been granted initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for the maximum five year period for new programs. Kaplan University began offering its DNP program in 2013.

The CCNE also re-affirmed the School’s Master in Science in Nursing program (MSN) for an additional five years while extending accreditation for the School’s Post Masters Certification program for ten years. The MSN Program includes tracks for primary care nurse practitioners including Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), Nurse Informatics, Nurse Educator, and Executive Leader.

Officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency, the CCNE is an autonomous accrediting agency, contributing to the improvement of the public's health. CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing.

“This is truly momentous news for everyone involved with our nursing program,” said Dr. Chandice Covington, PhD, APRN, PCPNP, FAAN, Dean and Vice President of the Kaplan School of Nursing. “Our deepest gratitude goes to our nursing faculty and entire School of Nursing team for their extensive contributions to this accreditation process and unwavering commitment to our students’ success.”

In addition to offering the DNP, MSN and Post-Master’s Certificate program, Kaplan University’s School of Nursing also offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing for RN to BSN and Pre-Licensure BSN program, which is also accredited by the CCNE.

Kaplan University is regionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission. For more information on Kaplan University’s School of Nursing visit: http://www.kaplanuniversity.edu/nursing.aspx.
