As the Texas summer heats up, Reliant will once again continue its commitment to helping Texans handle rising temperatures. The company has officially opened Reliant Beat the Heat Center locations in Houston, Dallas and Corpus Christi for Texans looking for ways to stay cool and minimize home electricity use.
“Texans expect warm temperatures this time of year. Texans can also count on Reliant to help our communities stay cool,” said Elizabeth Killinger, president of Reliant and NRG Retail. “For 11 straight years, Reliant has partnered with city governments and agencies to protect the well-being of Texans in the summer season. We encourage our neighbors to use the Beat the Heat Centers and leverage our financial assistance resources to stay cool and safe.”
Open now through September 30, the Reliant Beat the Heat Center locations listed below are available to the entire community. In addition to an air-conditioned space, each location offers bottled water, light snacks and entertainment.
Nearly $9 Million in Energy Assistance
Since 2005, Reliant has contributed about $9 million through its CARE (Community Assistance by Reliant Energy) program for Texans who need help with summer electricity costs. This year Reliant will assist seniors and low-income residential customers with paying their Reliant electricity bills through the CARE program and contributions to social services agencies. Along with payment extensions and deferred payment plans, Reliant again will enable the City of Houston to help provide seniors new air conditioning units.
Electricity Plans Texans Can Rely On
Reliant customers can choose from an array of innovative electricity plans, designed to meet their needs this summer:
- Reliant’s First Month Free plan offers customers a head start on the busy summer season by getting the first full month of electricity covered by Reliant.
- Reliant’s Predictable 12 plan lets customers pay the same amount each month for electricity, no surprises – no matter the season.
- Reliant’s Conservation 12 plan is a great option for customers who have very low home electricity usage.
Reliant offers other helpful programs as well:
- Dedicated Reliant customer service agents are available to help individuals identify social agencies that can provide assistance with electricity bills.
- Average billing helps consumers manage payments during the hottest months.
- The Reliant Home Energy Checkup is a free service available to Reliant customers to receive an evaluation of their home’s energy efficiency and recommendations for improvement.
