World Wide Technology Named as a Best Workplace for Gen Xers and Millennials

World Wide Technology, Inc. (WWT), a market-leading systems integrator that provides innovative technology and supply chain solutions, has been named one of the country's 20 Best Workplaces for Gen Xers in 2016 and 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials in 2016 by consulting firm Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine. This is the second consecutive year WWT has earned a spot on the Millennial list, ranking number eight this year. WWT earned a number 12 ranking on this year’s list based on Gen X team members' responses.

“As a company that aims to attract and retain top talent of all ages, we are pleased to know that both Gen Xers and Millennials feel a strong sense of pride and camaraderie in working for WWT, and trust that our executive leadership always has our community and their own best interests at heart,” said WWT’s chief executive officer and co-founder Jim Kavanaugh.

Both the 20 Best Workplaces for Gen Xers list and 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials list were published by Great Place to Work® and Fortune in conjunction with the 20 Best Workplaces for Baby Boomers list. The ranking is based entirely upon employees' own feedback and winners were selected from a database of some 620 Great Place to Work®-Certified organizations.

To determine the Gen X list, Fortune asked Great Place to Work® to survey more than 109,000 Gen Xers (born between 1965 and 1980) and more than 88,000 Millennials (born 1981 or later) who rated their organizations on 58 workplace quality questions. Gen X employees considered advancement opportunities, generosity of benefits packages, genuineness of work-life balance support, connection with their colleagues, and the ability to make a difference in their work, among other factors. Millennials considered the sincerity of managers' support for people's personal and professional lives, how transparent communication is, people's ability to be themselves at work and to invest in their lives outside work, and the meaning they get from their jobs and more. Gen X and Millennial employees' anonymous responses resulted in a total score for each company, which was compared to the benchmark for organizations of that size. Companies needed to employ at least 50 Gen X and 50 Millennial staff members and achieve a 95 percent confidence level and margin of error of 5 percent or less in order to be eligible.

“There are more similarities than differences when it comes to what different generations want in a great workplace,” says Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work®. “Our research shows that company pride, a sense of community and competent, ethical leadership can bring Millennials, Gen Xers and Baby Boomers together for a great, high-performing workplace.”

The 20 Best Workplaces for Gen Xers and 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials are part of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work® and Fortune based upon employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work®-certified organizations. WWT has amassed a number of awards from Fortune and Great Place to Work® recently, including being named to Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work for® 2016 (ranked 38), Best Workplaces in Technology 2016 (ranked 3), 50 Best Workplaces for Giving Back 2016 (ranked 23rd), Best Workplaces for Camaraderie 2015 (ranked 8), Best Workplaces for Diversity 2015 (ranked 7), Best Workplaces for Women 2015 (ranked 53) and Best Workplaces for Millennials 2015 (ranked 12).
