Medidata’s April Mulroney Honored Among PharmaVOICE 100’s Most Inspiring People

Medidata (NASDAQ:MDSO), the leading global provider of cloud-based solutions for clinical research in life sciences, is pleased to announce that its own April Mulroney has been recognized by PharmaVOICE magazine as one of the 100 most inspiring people in the life sciences industry.

Selected among hundreds of nominees, Mulroney has been named to the prestigious list for her innovative efforts to alleviate key pain points in today’s clinical trial site reimbursement model.

Since joining Medidata as managing director of Medidata Payments—a new component of the industry-leading Medidata Clinical Cloud® platform—Mulroney has helped set a new standard for the way sponsors and contract research organizations (CROs) reimburse investigative sites. Under her leadership, the Payments team has created a powerful, EDC-driven solution that automatically triggers and disburses site payments in real time based on data captured throughout a clinical study. The market’s first end-to-end reimbursement solution, Payments also tracks completed site work, calculates costs based on geo-specific nuances (such as tax regulations and different currencies), and sends payment directly to investigators’ bank accounts—all within a single, unified platform.

“April Mulroney is breaking the paradigm of perpetuating the same old inefficient processes, and her dedication to streamlining clinical site payments—a reimbursement model that has been broken for decades—is just one of the reasons she is being recognized as a 2016 PharmaVOICE 100,” said Taren Grom, editor and co-founder of PharmaVOICE.

Mulroney becomes the twelfth Medidata leader to be named to the PharmaVOICE 100, an annual list of individuals hand-picked by the publication for addressing industry challenges and exploring new avenues to transform the life sciences. Since its inception in 2005, the PharmaVOICE 100 has honored influencers from a broad cross section of the industry, including the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, contract research, clinical trial, research and development, patient education, patient recruitment, advertising, marketing and technology sectors, among others.

“April’s knowledge in clinical finance and her technical expertise is helping to shape our vision for the automation of site payments and turn it into a reality,” said Medidata’s chief operating officer, Mike Capone. “She is admired by colleagues and clients for her passion and dedication to improving the clinical trials space, and is incredibly deserving of this award and her place among the top talent disrupting the industry.”
