Citrix Systems Provides Critical Backbone to Athlete Medical Support Systems at the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai

Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in application delivery infrastructure, today announced its further contribution of additional licenses to power and secure the delivery of the Special Olympics medical record systems called Medical Encounter Software (MES), in addition to the reliable and cost effective delivery of the Game Management Systems (GMS) application, to all of the 22 sporting venues for over 7,500 athletes in the coming 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games to be held in Shanghai on October 2 11, 2007.

The MES holds the critical medical histories and records for each of the 7,500 athletes from more than 160 participating countries at the World Games, and is centrally hosted and delivered securely via Citrix application delivery infrastructure to disparate devices at all 70 competition, special event and housing venues located across 19 Shanghai Districts.

The 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai is the largest sporting event in the world this calendar year, and gathering over 7,500 athletes, will be the largest Special Olympics World Games ever. It is therefore extremely important that we engage a reliable world-class technology vendor such as Citrix Systems to provide the crucial backbone of application delivery infrastructure for both our critical Medical Encounter Software as well as the Game Management Systems, said Andre Mendes, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Special Olympics. The goal of Special Olympics is to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities through sport, and Citrix Systems plays a key role in supporting this goal. By delivering the mission-critical applications to PCs and other devices regardless of their hardware specifications and bandwidth available, it enables our medical teams to address the medical needs of the our athletes regardless of their location.

The MES software is provided by Health One Global, the exclusive Special Olympics Healthy Athletes® Global Partner for electronic health records. Dr. Stan Shepherd, Chairman of Health One Global added, In the past World Games, medical history information had to be manually faxed to the medical headquarters whenever an athlete needed medical attention. Now with Citrix application delivery infrastructure powering and securing the MES, we can easily access real time information and provide the much needed medical care and attention for all our Special Olympics athletes. This saves us a lot of time and makes a substantial difference in our efficiency while simultaneously contributing to the quality of care and speed of recovery for our athletes.

Citrix contribution of the application delivery infrastructure solutions include 260 concurrent user licenses of Presentation Server, Enterprise Edition that centralize all the applications including the mission-critical Medical Encounter Software (MES) and Games Management Systems (GMS), as well as 780 concurrent user licenses of the award-winning Citrix Access Gateway1 - a pair of universal SSL VPN appliances that provide secure, always-on, single point-of-access that allow real-time updates and access of medical records and game results from any device, location and network. The 2007 World Summer Games are supported by Citrix Consultants in the design and implementation of Citrix solutions, as well as Citrix Technical Support Engineers on-site to ensure smooth running of the operation during the World Games.

The 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games is an unprecedented event and Citrix is pleased to be part of this historic humanitarian experience with our application delivery infrastructure and technical support contributions, said Dennis Rose, Vice President Pacific, Citrix Systems, Inc. With the World Games aptly themed as I know I can, our tried-and-tested solutions powering this global event for the fourth time provide the assurance of fundamental reliability and availability to not only the medical doctors and IT support teams, but also for the special athletes and their families. This gives them the peace of mind to show their limitless potential to the spectators all over the world.
