Mixed open as producer prices

The markets opened mixed with the Dow losing 44 points to 18,878 as producer prices held steady in October. Nasdaq gained 19 points to 5,294.


On the upside


Shares of Diana Containerships (Nasdaq: DCIX), Euroseas (Nasdaq: ESEA), Seanergy Maritime Holdings (Nasdaq: SHIP), and Sino-Global Shipping (Nasdaq: SINO) extended their gains.


StemCells (Nasdaq: STEM) held a special stockholder meeting yesterday.


Aurinia Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: AUPH) presented additional upbeat findings from its Phase IIb AURA study of voclosporin to treat lupus nephritis.


On the downside

PDL BioPharma (Nasdaq: PDLI) will offer $150 million in new convertible senior notes.


Flexion Therapeutics (Nasdaq: FLXN) priced its public offering of 3.6 million common shares at the discounted price of $18.00 per share.


In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of 9 to 7 on the NYSE and by more than 10 to 9 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 slipped 2 points to 2,177. Bitcoin soared $17 to $725.
