Tyler Technologies to Provide City of Long Beach, California, with Enterprise Resource Planning Solution

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced an agreement with Long Beach, California, for Tyler’s Munis® enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. The deal, which includes human resources (HR) and financial management applications, is valued at $8.5 million and makes Long Beach the largest Munis client in California.

Long Beach’s current ERP solution has been in place for more than 25 years. Migrating from the city’s mainframe computer and modernizing the critical financial and HR systems will leverage the latest technologies, minimize risk and replace outdated systems. The current systems make it difficult to support and integrate with other city systems, and the replacement will enable the city to implement best practices and substantially improve efficiency and effectiveness.

“This system is the largest and most complex technology project the city has ever undertaken,” said Mayor of Long Beach Robert Garcia. “This new technology will help increase efficiency and effectiveness, improve controls, provide better information for decision-making, and increase transparency. It is also advances our open data policy.”

Tyler’s Munis meets Long Beach’s diverse municipal business needs, will serve their HR and financial management needs, and will provide this large municipality the robust functionality, technology and implementation services they need without extraneous costs.

“The city of Long Beach is consistently driven to improve operational efficiency, share information, and integrate processes across departments,” said Bryan M. Sastokas, chief information officer for the city of Long Beach. “The implementation of Tyler’s Munis will build upon the city’s partnership with Tyler Technologies to achieve these objectives.”

The city will benefit from upgraded systems and improved overall reporting, as well as transparency and management of the city’s finances and HR processes. In addition, Munis will improve electronic workflow capabilities, connect data across different core business functions, automate electronic document imaging, and improve and streamline processes. Long Beach will benefit from Tyler’s evergreen perpetual licensing approach that provides regular and significant, yet manageable, software enhancements without any additional relicensing or service fees. This cost-effective approach allows the city to move forward as Tyler provides new software releases.

“Tyler has extensive experience in the California market for Munis, having recently completed similar implementations in Pasadena and Marin County, and we look forward to bringing that same level of expertise to Long Beach,” said Andy Teed, president of Tyler’s Enterprise Group. “Our proven implementation processes and powerful ERP solution will help Long Beach modernize HR and financial processes while maintaining efficient workflows.”

Long Beach, situated in Los Angeles County, is the seventh largest city in California with approximately 462,000 residents.
