Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ and Reliant Team Up for 16th Year to Bring Power and Fun to Visitors

As a longtime supporter and heritage partner of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Reliant and rodeo season go together like boots and cowboy hats. Reliant is pleased to once again serve as the official power provider that keeps the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo running each day, but it doesn’t stop there. With more than 2.4 million visitors to the annual event from across the world, the company has also rolled out plans to make sure all guests have a connected and authentic Texas experience at NRG Park.

Two-step in style with the Reliant Rodeo plan

Reliant’s electricity plan comes with competitive pricing and a new special benefit designed just for Rodeo fans. New residential customers who sign up for the Reliant Rodeo plan will receive a $100 Cavender’s gift card to use toward their favorite western wear, plus access to information and tools that put them in control of their electricity budget.

Interactive fan experiences at NRG Park

Standing 20 feet tall, the Reliant Big Boot welcomes Rodeo fans near the Champion Wine Garden at Carruth Plaza and makes for a great social media moment. Reliant will have games such as a beanbag-style “boot toss.” Rodeo goers can also stop by the Reliant Western Saloon photo booth, located inside NRG Center at Entrance C, to create a fun family photo with props and clothing for an authentic look. No more “power anxiety” – stay charged on the go!

Reliant’s portable power solutions found throughout NRG Stadium and NRG Park help Rodeo goers’ mobile devices stay powered and connected so they don’t miss a beat. Visitors can rent a power pack from a self-service station, charge their device and return the palm-sized unit at any NRG Go Station within NRG Park. When renting a power pack, the first day is free for everyone at NRG Park during the Rodeo, and for Reliant residential and small business electricity customers, rentals at any NRG Go Station are always free. There are 12 NRG Go Stations inside NRG Stadium, one at every ramp on levels one, three and five, six additional stations available across the rest of NRG Park and additional stations located throughout the greater Houston area.

An energy efficient and reliable Rodeo

Nearly 600 solar panels will greet visitors on the two pedestrian bridges leading into NRG Park and the Rodeo. The 180 kilowatt system provides renewable energy year-round and is enough to power 25 mechanical bulls simultaneously. NRG Stadium was also equipped with 65,000 high-efficiency LED lights to illuminate the field and main areas. The LED lights use 60 percent less energy than the venue’s previous lighting and enable real-time changes to lighting that were formerly unavailable. The sustainable upgrades installed by Reliant’s parent company, NRG Energy Inc., helps improve the Rodeo fan experience.
