Ultimate Software Rated the Top Vendor in HfS Research’s New Report for Predictive Capabilities in HCM Systems

Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions in the cloud, announced today that HfS Research, The Services Research Company™, has rated Ultimate the top vendor for predictive HCM capabilities in its February 2017 Blueprint Market Guide. The Guide helps businesses determine which HCM providers to partner with for predictive HCM tools.

HfS’s Predictive Capabilities in HCM Systems Grid focused on two major dimensions: execution and innovation. HfS evaluated HCM providers’ execution by studying vendors’ R&D and other indications of a sustained commitment to predictive analytics. The firm evaluated a vendor’s level of innovation by exploring existing and planned examples of product innovation, associated impacts on customers, as well as the ability of providers to articulate expected business value from these capabilities.

“We were early to market with predictive analytics for HR, and we continue to invest heavily in the R&D of our predictive and prescriptive tools,” said Adam Rogers, chief technology officer at Ultimate. “The accuracy and impact of our technology has been a key differentiator for Ultimate, and our dedicated HCM solution can currently predict both future high performers and those at risk of leaving – capabilities that can significantly impact engagement, culture, and overall business performance. We have roughly 1,000 customers using the UltiPro Retention Predictor™ who are adding this value to their businesses.”

According to the HfS report, best-in-class HCM solutions have predictive analytics that ideally include prescriptive guidance seamlessly embedded in the system. Within its unified HCM solution, Ultimate’s UltiPro Retention Predictor can forecast an employee’s likelihood to stay or leave the organization within the next 12 months, and UltiPro’s complementary Leadership Actions capability suggests specific actions that managers can take to retain those individuals and support their career paths. UltiPro embeds actionable insights at key decision points to make them part of daily work.

“Ultimate has demonstrated an ability to progress its HCM predictive capabilities fairly quickly,” said Steve Goldberg, research vice president, HR technology and workforce strategies at HfS Research. “Unlike many HCM solution providers, Ultimate’s predictors are also included in its core HR solution, which also drives user adoption and business value.”

Research for the HfS report included vendor briefings, an abbreviated RFI process, responses from more than 1,300 crowdsourced survey participants used to guide the weighting of 16 evaluation criteria, and interviews with customers and implementation services firms.
