PCTEL Simplifies Narrow Band Public Safety Network Testing

PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq:PCTI), a leader in Performance Critical TELecom solutions, announced narrow band public safety network testing capabilities for its IBflex® scanning receiver and SeeHawk® Touch software on VHF, UHF, 700 MHz, and 800 MHz bands. Public safety network acceptance testing is required for building occupancy permits in most jurisdictions in the United States. Increasingly, these requirements include signal strength measurements in addition to traditional handset testing. PCTEL’s test tools simplify data collection and provide reports in commonly required formats, including those required by National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) guidelines. PCTEL’s narrow band public safety testing capabilities are also useful for design and coverage verification for Project 25 (P25) and TETRA networks worldwide.

“FirstNet and other LTE-based public safety networks are the future of public safety communications, but building owners need to meet public safety coverage requirements today. Additionally, many public safety agencies will continue to operate narrow band networks even after FirstNet is deployed. The IBflex can test LTE and narrow band networks simultaneously, meeting the public safety testing needs of almost any building owner or local authority,” said Jeff Miller, PCTEL’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, RF Solutions. “PCTEL also provides antennas and engineering services for LMR, TETRA, and LTE-based public safety networks,” added Miller.

PCTEL will demonstrate its full range of network testing solutions June 6-7 at DAS and Small Cells Congress in Las Vegas, Booth #526.
