Second-Largest School District in Pennsylvania Selects Tyler Technologies’ Enterprise Resource Planning Solution

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) signed an agreement with Pittsburgh Public Schools in Pennsylvania for Tyler’s Munis® enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. Pennsylvania’s second-largest school district will use Munis to manage financials, procurement, human resources (HR) and payroll information.

Pittsburgh Public Schools serves roughly 30,000 students and employs approximately 5,000 people across 54 individual school locations in the Pittsburgh metro area. The district’s existing ERP solution, in place for 15 years, lacks updated features and the appropriate level of vendor support to help manage its financial and HR information.

In addition, the current solution does not integrate well with third-party systems, which leads to duplication of data and unnecessary manual processes. After an extensive review of several vendors, Pittsburgh Public Schools ultimately selected Tyler to provide Munis as a fully integrated ERP system that will serve all school locations.

“We were eager to find a stable partner who will provide a long-term solution to meet the evolving needs of our schools,” said Scott Gutowski, chief of information and technology, Pittsburgh Public Schools. “We’re confident in Tyler’s ability to provide us with a fully integrated ERP solution, which will make our departments more efficient and bring a greater level of data transparency to better serve the Pittsburgh community.”

Munis will manage Pittsburgh Public Schools’ financials and personnel data while automating workflows between departments. The solution will allow for greater transparency of the information for staff, and it will seamlessly integrate with existing third-party systems. Munis will also help to reduce manual processes and eliminate the duplication of data and information.

“We look forward to providing our Munis solution to Pittsburgh Public Schools, and know they will gain great efficiencies with our software within their many individual school locations,” said Chris Hepburn, president of Tyler’s ERP & School Division. “We understand the need to manage and protect important financial and personnel information for a school client of this size, and we’re confident that Munis will support their needs.”

Pittsburgh is located in western Pennsylvania, and its metropolitan area has a population of more than 2 million. Munis is used by more than 1,600 clients across the United States, including nearly 70 clients in Pennsylvania. Tyler also provides its iasWorld® appraisal and tax administration solution to Allegheny County, which includes the city of Pittsburgh.
