International CES Technology and Emerging Countries Program Focuses on Technologys Impact on Economic Development

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today announced that key government officials and global industry executives will participate on an Advisory Council for the International CES Technology and Emerging Countries (TEC) Program. Focused on technologys impact on economic growth, the TEC Program will once again anchor the global policy dialogue at the 2009 International CES, the worlds largest tradeshow for consumer technology. Produced by CEA, the 2009 International CES is scheduled January 8-11, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Last years inaugural Technology and Emerging Countries Program was a resounding success and brought together business and government leaders from around the world to discuss opportunities for economic development through technology innovations, said Elizabeth Hyman, vice president, international, CEA. Our hope is to grow the TEC program into a leading voice for the global technology industry, and we look forward to working with the TEC Advisory Council to further develop this important program.

Members of the Advisory Council will provide input for the 2009 Technology and Emerging Countries Program including recommendations for panel topics, identification of cutting edge technology innovations of note in emerging markets and other partnerships, initiatives and perspectives in this field.
