Tricks, Treats and Guilt Bring Parents Home for Halloween

Ghosts and goblins might not spook grownups on Halloween, but parental guilt sure does! A new survey conducted by Four Points by Sheraton found that 60% of parents feel guilty if they miss trick-or-treating with their kids and three out of four parents say their children would be disappointed if they missed Halloween. And bosses beware: personal priorities mean professional productivity may suffer on Halloween with 66% of moms and dads admitting they sneak out of work early in order to hit the streets for treats with their kids, and 76% even rearrange their business travel to make it home in time for the big day.

Just how important is Halloween to little pumpkins? Hands down Halloween trumps other holidays as kids favorite, handily beating Easter and Christmas. 82% of parents surveyed say Halloween is their childrens favorite holiday, with Easter coming in second and Christmas a close third.

Who said Treats are just for Kids?

Kids hide your candy stash from your parents! 73% of adults surveyed have stolen candy from their childrens or another childs candy stash and only 56% felt guilty about it. And what is their favorite candy to loot? Adults surveyed rank candy corn as their favorite Halloween candy followed by Hersheys Kisses, M&Ms and lollipops. The survey also revealed that Halloween is not only for the young but also the young at heart. 65% of adults surveyed also say Halloween makes them feel like a kid again, 66% dress up for Halloween and 71% go trick-or-treating with their kids.
