Dollar General Customers Can Help Save Lives Through the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital(R) Thanks and Giving(R) Campaign

For the third consecutive year, Dollar General Corporation will participate in the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital Thanks and Giving campaign. The campaign kicks off in all stores November 14 and concludes December 7. Since 2006, Dollar General has raised more than $2 million to support the lifesaving work of St. Jude.

All 8,300 Dollar General stores will display the St. Jude Thanks and Giving magnifying glass logo in support of the ongoing research to find cures to save the lives of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The campaign asks customers to Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not. Dollar General will offer shoppers the opportunity to support the Thanks and Giving campaign through donations that can be made at the check-out counter. Participants will write their names on donation cards to be displayed throughout the store. One hundred percent of donations benefit St. Jude.

The children of St. Jude, their moms and dads and I are thrilled to welcome back Dollar General to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital Thanks and Giving campaign, said Marlo Thomas, National Outreach Director for St. Jude. Dollar Generals dedication to this holiday campaign helps ensure that St. Jude can continue the lifesaving research and care that has brought hope to so many families.

St. Jude, the nations leading pediatric cancer research center, pays for all treatment not covered by insurance, regardless of a familys ability to pay. And, 85 cents of each dollar received support the research and treatment at St. Jude.

Helping the children of St. Jude through the Thanks and Giving campaign is one of the many ways that Dollar General serves others, said Rick Dreiling, Dollar Generals CEO. We enjoy participating in this campaign because it allows us to get our employees and customers involved in helping children with life-threatening illnesses.

About the St. Jude Thanks and Giving Campaign

The St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital Thanks and Giving national campaign is an unprecedented union of celebrities, media, retail and corporate partners that ask consumers to Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not. The Thanks and Giving initiative was created in 2004 by award-winning actress Marlo Thomas and her siblings Terre and Tony Thomas, all three the children of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas. Funds raised by the campaign support the lifesaving work of St. Jude to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. St. Jude impacts the lives of children in communities across the country. Consumers are asked to shop at companies where the St. Jude green magnifying glass logo is displayed; donate online at www.stjude.org, where a list of fund-raising partners is available, or call 1-800-4STJUDE.
