Best Buy Launches Eighth Annual Toy Drive to Benefit Underprivileged Teens

Best Buy’s eighth annual Toys for Teens campaign is under way in an effort to make the holidays brighter for teenagers. For more than a decade Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) has supported the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps in 2001, Best Buy created the Toys for Teens charitable program to address the needs of older children. To date, Best Buy, together with its partners and customers, has raised more than $3.8 million to benefit older children across the U.S.

As the exclusive national sponsor of Toys for Teens, Best Buy customers can contribute in two ways this year:

  • Donate the value of REWARD ZONE® program points to Toys for Teens (through 12/27)
  • Make a monetary donation at one of more that 900 Best Buy locations or online at - www.bestbuy.com/toysforteens

In addition to customer donations, the Best Buy Children’s Foundation has made a donation of $250,000 to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Money donated will be used to purchase gifts for underprivileged children between the ages of 12 and 15. Gifts are distributed through the Toys for Tots local campaign offices and their partners. For information on local campaign offices, see http://www.toysfortots.org.

“Best Buy is proud to once again support the Toys for Teens program,” said Paula Prahl, vice president, public affairs, Best Buy. “In partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, our customers and communities, we look forward to making the holidays brighter for older children in need.”

Expanding on its commitment to teenagers, Best Buy this year launched @15, a new platform to connect with teens—online and in person. Best Buy believes that teens are a critical part of the world and an important part of business. With @15, Best Buy hopes to give teens a voice, create opportunities for teens to connect with each other and the world, and put the power of philanthropy directly into teens’ hands by inviting them to participate in programs such as Toys for Teens.

“Each year, millions of teenagers are overlooked during the holiday season, but they deserve the same joy and excitement that a holiday gift brings to younger kids,” said retired Marine Major William Grein, vice president of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. “Best Buy’s involvement in the Toys for Teens effort helps brighten the holidays for older children.”
