Options trading was brisk on United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) yesterday, as more than 174,000 contracts changed hands. This volume was more than 25 times the equity's average daily trading volume of 7,070 contracts, according to data from WhatsTrading.com. Furthermore, traders favored calls on Tuesday, as 98% of the volume changed hands on the call side.
The International Securities Exchange (ISE) has seen a preference for calls recently. During the past 10 trading sessions, roughly 1.5 calls have been bought to open for every one put purchased to open. This ratio of calls to puts is higher than 69% of all those taken during the past year, pointing to a growing optimism.
