Penny Injury Chiropractic Teams Up With Eagle Scout To Help Abused Dogs

Phoenix, AZ - Jordan Watkins submitted his final rank requirement to become an Eagle Scout by completing an extensive project to benefit the community. Dr. Carol Watkins of Penny Injury Chiropractic was proudly explaining how her son, Jordan, was making approximately 15 dog beds for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Animal Safe Haven (M.A.S.H Unit) and that this was his final rank requirement project to become an Eagle Scout. Dr. Trever Penny, a Chiropractic Physician and owner of Penny Injury Chiropractic, was very impressed with this project to help abused and rescued dogs.

Jordan Watkins came into Penny Injury Chiropractic to explain all of the steps it took to complete this project. Dr. Trever Penny was so moved that he accepted Jordan’s request to sponsor the project with him.

There were quite a few steps to get the project approved both by the Boy Scouts of America, as well as the M.A.S.H unit. Once approved by the BSA, he then had to get his project approved by M.A.S.H. Jordan worked with Sergeant Gary Miller of M.A.S.H. who was instrumental in helping the Eagle Scout get his final project approved.

The beds were made completely under Jordan’s supervision and were built by members of his Boy Scout troop, scout leaders, family and friends. Over approximately two weeks’ time the team produced 15 fabric and PVC dog beds. These beds are a cot like bed that allows the dogs to not have to lay on cement. While in the beds, the dogs are elevated allowing air flow underneath them which helps to keep them cooler and cleaner.

Jordan then presented the pet beds to M.A.S.H. At the presentation, Dr. Penny was amazed at how professional the beds looked and remarked that they looked like they were constructed to last a long time. To everyone’s delight, Jordan was honored by Sherriff Paul Penzone at the presentation. Sheriff Penzone also was impressed with the construction and aesthetics of the dog beds. Sheriff Penzone spoke with Jordan for an extended period of time and complimented him on his leadership skills and his contribution to the abused/rescued dogs of M.A.S.H.

Everyone at Penny Injury Chiropractic would like to thank and congratulate Jordan Watkins for his achieving the rank of Eagle Scout on June 1st, 2017, as well as his compassion for all K-9s and constructing the dog beds.
