Digital Pen Technology Integration To Address Productivity Loss During The Transition From Paper To Electronic Health Records

NANUET, N.Y., Jan. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- iMedicor (OTCBB: VMCI) today announced that, effective today, it has acquired the iPenMD solution, a web-based electronic health records (EHR) application that utilizes a digital pen technology solution for healthcare practices. The technology will permit health providers to regain the significant productivity often lost during the provider's transition from paper-to-digital recording and storage of patient records.

iPenMD features a digital pen system that reads patient encounter notes as they are recorded by the doctor or clinician onto a paper form. The system then converts these notes into editable text and places them into the proper place in the EHR files for individual patients. The system is cordless, battery-powered and can export data to any PC, Mac or mobile device. The technology can be integrated into any existing EHR system approved for Meaningful Use Compliance.

According to iMedicor CEO, Fred Zolla, "Our acquisition of this unique digital pen technology allows health providers to go 'back to the future' – back to hand writing patient notes while going forward, simply and with regained productivity, to the future of electronic health records.

"We could not be more pleased with this acquisition and its resulting synergy of technologies. Now, with just the stroke of a pen, patient information can go from a health practice to anyone on our secure social health information exchange network, instantly, and saving considerable time and money in the process. This is exactly the type of solution the health provider market has been seeking for a long time."

Mr. Zolla said iMedicor is pursuing additional acquisitions aimed at augmenting the company's identity as a provider of "Digital Pain Relief."

Joe Ventresca, CEO of JTJ Capital LLC, which owned the iPenMD system, added, "We too are pleased by the combination of the iPenMD technology with iMedicor. As a result of this acquisition, healthcare professionals will now find that iMedicor's SocialHIE network offers an unparalleled means by which to create and transmit patient records, easily and quickly, and to regain lost productivity."
