The American Golfer by Anthony Robinson depicts a journey of self-discovery that takes a PGA professional to a village in the Irish countryside
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (MMD Newswire) August 9, 2010 -- The American Golfer by Anthony Robinson is the story of a professional golf player seeking redemption in the midst of a personal and professional crisis.
Reeling from a divorce and the death of his six-year-old daughter, professional golfer Charlie Kingston decides to visit Castlebantry, a small village in Ireland where his great-grandmother was born, hoping to find himself in the quiet surroundings of his family's past. Instead, all he seems to find is trouble: he falls in love with a married woman and unwittingly earns the hatred of dangerous enemies. He also encounters a young girl who reminds him of his daughter, a resemblance that reminds him of the pain of his loss. Embroiled in controversy and passion, Charlie must decide where his future lies and whether he can return to the game he loves.
"My lifelong love of golf and my Irish heritage converged during a visit to my great-grandmother's village in Ireland," Robinson says. "I took many walks to search for her grave and played a number of golf courses. In time, inspired by the history and beauty of Ireland, I began to find a storyline for The American Golfer."
The theme of the story is the influence of power and money and what it means to be Irish, leading the American golfer to the discovery of both self and what is important in life.
The American Golfer is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
