President Barack Obama announced on Wednesday a plan to make it easier for consumers and local governments to purchase energy-efficient cars and trucks. In a speech at a Daimler truck plant in North Carolina, Obama said the federal government will help cities and towns "cut through the red tape and build fueling stations" if they commit to buy vehicles that run on electricity, bio-fuels or natural gas. Obama said he would also support tax breaks for families and companies that buy fuel-efficient cars.
