Greece to miss debt payment, markets plunge

The markets tumbled to a sharply lower close with the Dow plunging 170 points to 17,905 on news that Greece would miss its debt payment tomorrow. Nasdaq dropped 40 points to 5,059.

On the upside

The Korean Intellectual Property Office granted Lightbridge (Nasdaq: LTBR) a patent covering the Company's multi-lobed metallic fuel rod design and fuel assemblies.

Shares of Oculus Innovative Sciences (Nasdaq: OCLS) surged ahead of its earnings release next week.

Mindray Medical (NYSE: MR) received an offer to take the company private for a premium of $30 per American Depositary Share.

On the downside

National Bank of Greece (NYSE: NBG) stock fell on news that Greece will not be able to make its debt payment to the International Monetary Fund tomorrow.

Caesars Entertainment (Nasdaq: CZR) entered long term agreements with Sun Country and Via Airlines.

TheStreet recommended that investors sell Biolife Solutions (Nasdaq: BLFS).

In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of nearly 7 to 2 on the NYSE and by more than 5 to 2 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 tumbled 18 points to 2095. Bitcoin slipped a point to $224.
