Black Hole: Dow Drops 65 Points as Janet Yellen, Election Uncertainty Loom

Stocks fell today as investors looked ahead to Janet Yellen's speech at Jackson Hole on Friday . But could the drop be about the upcoming U.S. election as well? The S&P 500 fell 0.5% to 2,175.44 at 4:31 p.m. today, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 65.82 points, or 0.4%, to 18,481.48. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.8% to 5,217.69. Of course, everyone is wondering what Fed chief Janet Yellen will say when she speaks at Jackson Hole on Friday--that's the nearest of the near-term risks. But let's not forget there's an election coming up, and a lot is happening on that front this week .
