Markets Mixed At Midday

The markets traded mixed during the midday with the Dow losing 30 points to 11,341 even as jobless claims dropped. Nasdaq added 2 points to 2612.

On the upside

Shares of LED chips and components maker SemiLEDS (Nasdaq: LEDS) surged on its first trading day.

First Republic Bank (NYSE: FRC) stock nearly doubled in its initial public offering.

Dean Foods (NYSE: DF) will offer up to $400 millin in senior notes to qualified institutional investors.

On the downside

Shares of Chinese film distributor Bona Film Group (Nasdaq: BONA) tumbled on its first day of trading on Nasdaq.

Despite a nearly 21% surge in November car sales in India, sales of Tata Motors' (NYSE: TTM) tumbled prompting the car maker to offer a four year warranty on the world's cheapest car.

ShengdaTech (Nasdaq: SDTH) will sell $90 million in senior convertible notes through a private offering.

In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of nearly 10 to 9 on the NYSE while advancers edged out decliners by more than 10 to 9 on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks edged up a point to 765.
