Solo Exhibition at Miami and Design Art Fair February 13th to February 18th, 2014
PRLog - Feb. 9, 2014 - MIAMI -- Contemporary Art Projects USA  directed by art marketing consultant Tata Fernandez will be individually showcasing the work of Chinese conceptual photographer Fu Wenjun at the inaugural edition of Miami Art and Design Fair (MA+D) in Downtown Miami.

As a conceptual photographer  whose works have been exhibited at the Grand Palais des Champs-Elysées in Paris, Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and at the Old Summer Palace in Beijing, Wenjun, 58, developed his passion for a new  medium in a smooth fashion coming from years studying oil painting and  then moving on to photography.

In 1987, he obtained an arts degree from the Sinchuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing, which is China’s oldest art academy of higher learning; but it was at the turn of the new millennium that Wenjun dedicated himself solely to conceptual photography.

"The transition from photography to conceptual photography did not occur by chance," Wenjun said, "It came from an intellectual transition, a slow process which goes along my cognition deepening process."

Two months ago in Paris, during the “19th World Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition" at the Carrousel du Louvre, his pieces belonging to the series “Illusory Metamorphoses” were highly praised by critics and featured in a variety of news outlets that included the European Times, The People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and the Chinese Channel of Phoenix Television.

"The main theme of the exhibition was Heritage and Territory and I am very pleased to know that through my works visitors recognized the importance of the international aspect of contemporary culture which transcends those themes,” Wenjun added.

At the Contemporary Art Projects USA booth at MA+D, Wenjun will exhibit seven photographs depicting the famous Dazu Rock Carvings combined with models of the X-ray human skeleton printed in Rongchang grass cloth.

Exploring faith and religion, life and death, Wenjun presents the dichotomies of existence and illusion using the almost-extinct grass cloth as an artistic experiment on the contemporary transformation of an intangible culture.

The two curators selected for this show are Zang Chaonan and Luis Valenzuela. Fu Wenjun will be traveling from China for this unique exhibition.

The online media sponsor for Contemporary Art Projects USA is Miami Art Tonight and Live coverage of “Meet the Artist" on Saturday, February 15th, 2014 at 8PM by Arte Mundo Latino.
