Intensive Testing of 24 Popular Diapers by BabyGearLab Reveals that Eco-Healthy Diapers Often Out-Perform Traditional Options
PRLog - Aug. 25, 2014 - CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- Baby product testing and review site BabyGearLab.com, announced the awards from its 2014 top disposable diaper review today. After exhaustive in-house testing, and actual baby use of the top rated 24 diapers on the market, the winners stood out from the competition by providing superior absorbency and leakage protection, and by offering more for eco-health and comfort. BabyGearLab chose award winning diapers in the following categories: Editor’s Choice went to the best overall diaper; and the Best Value awards were given to budget friendly diapers that performed well, one traditional and one green.

And the winners are:

Bambo Nature took home the prize for Editors’ Choice award, and it had the highest overall score in testing. Speaking about Bambo, BabyGearLab founder, Dr. Juliet Spurrier said, “It simply out performs all the other diapers in our review. It outscored its closest competitor by 15 points, which made it an obvious award winner.” Dr. Spurrier went on to say, “With significant eco-health attributes, in addition to the great performance and comfort, this diaper has become my disposable of choice.”

Best Value for Green Disposable went to Earth’s Best TenderCare Chlorine Free diapers. Pediatrician Juliet Spurrier, of BabyGearLab.com, stated that, “We continue to be pleased with the Earth’s Best brand. Not only did it earn the highest score for leakage in our tests, but it also provides an eco-friendly option for those who are sensitive to the environment and buying on a budget. You don’t have to sacrifice quality or performance for a good price.”

Best Value Award for Traditional Diapers went to Cuties brand. “With a better price than many popular traditional diapers,” Dr. Spurrier said, “Cuties still outperformed all the Huggies varieties we tested, and several of the more expensive diapers in our review. Cuties came in ninth place overall with a price below the popular name brands and some store brand offerings; including Costco’s Kirkland Signature, Babies R Us, and Walmart’s Parent’s Choice. We were really impressed with the overall comfort and quality feel of this budget friendly diaper.”

Testing was conducted in a lab setting that performed identical tests on each product side-by-side for comparison value and ensured continuity. Test were designed to measure how well each product performed in a controlled environment. Tests included those for absorbency and leakage, two of the most important factors in a diaper, and others for comfort/fit, durability, and a review of eco-health attributes according to the available manufacturer information. Products were also used on in-house testers whose parents provided quality feedback and opinions on each product based on day-to-day personal experience.

For additional buying advice, BabyGearLab.com has also published an article on, “How to Select the Best Disposable Diaper” for anyone seeking more information or guidance on which variables are most important when choosing disposable diapers. The article also provides useful information on how to balance eco-health factors with concerns like price, leakage, and convenience.
