Hologic Inc. (Nasdaq: HOLX) will pay a premium of approximately $3.75 billion in cash to acquire Gen-Probe Inc. (Nasdaq: GPRO). Shares of Gen-Probe rocketed $12.86 to $81.57 while Hologic stock plummeted $2.16 to $19.07.
