Troops Still Deploying … Help Still Needed from Forgotten Soldiers Outreach
PR Log - May 08, 2012 - There has been a lot in the news lately about bringing our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan; however, our young men and women are still being deployed overseas to these war zones. Forgotten Soldiers Outreach ( of 3550 23rd Avenue S., Suite 7, Lake Worth, Florida 33461, supplies deployed troops with “We Care” packages from the homefront. In April 2012, they sent a total of 1,578 packages to newly deployed troops and do not expect a slowdown anytime soon.

“With all of the news about bringing our troops home,” remarked Lynelle Chauncey Zelnar, executive director and founder of Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, “many of our regular donors believe the need for We Care packages is over, but it’s just not the case.”

The goal of Forgotten Soldiers Outreach is to ensure that every American military man or woman knows that his or her commitment and sacrifice for this county does not go unappreciated … they will not be forgotten.

“Our troops are inspired with hope, strength and courage from these packages,” continued Zelnar, “just knowing that the American citizens care and are behind them, giving what support they can.”

The not-for-profit corporation receives a lot of feedback from the troops in the field, thanking them for the We Care packages. Lt. Robert G. Adair wrote that the packages made their deployment bearable and stressed how necessary and appreciated they were.

Forgotten Soldiers Outreach was founded after Zelnar heard, through a member of an airborne unit serving in Iraq, that the troops were becoming frustrated and discouraged by the war, missing their loved ones, and even questioning their purpose in the country. She quickly began calling and emailing anyone she could contact in the South Florida area, begging for money and items to ship. The Outreach grew from there to keep up with the need.

SPC Alexander Raborn wrote to say how awesome he and his team thought the packages were, “[We] can tell they’re packed with love and support. The thank you notes of support really close the deal … We always remember it is the good people back home giving us a reason to defend.”

If you have any questions about Forgotten Soldiers Outreach or would like to donate your time, money or package items, you can call the office at 561-369-2933, email them at,  or visit their web site at All contributions are tax deductible.
