Mobile Connect Conference Begins June 18 in Boston

San Francisco, CA – June 14, 2012 – Maribel Lopez, principal analyst, Lopez Research, says the term “mobile” will go away in the next five years. As the biggest technology wave since the Internet, Lopez claims what we distinguish as mobile today will be so ubiquitous that we won’t even define it separately, which is why it is critical to begin planning efforts now for next decade. “Ride the wave or crash on the rocks,” says Lopez, inviting business and IT professionals engaged in communications planning to attend next week’s Mobile Connect conference, beginning Monday in Boston.

According to Lopez, “I’m excited. This is an industry that has been in a state of exploration for years, but this is the first year that companies are really doing something with enterprise mobility. People are already beginning to run into serious challenges but are also discovering incredible opportunities now that mobile device technology is maturing. Now is when we begin to develop and see significant changes in terms of how people do business with the ability to do everything on the go with the right amount of processing power, real-time data analytics, and the right amount of usability. The infrastructure changes, we finally move to software as a service, and a significant amount of computing occurs in the cloud. Everybody wants to talk about it, Mobile Connect is the place to do that.”

Lopez is co-chair of the event, along with Craig Matthias, principal, Farpoint Group. Mobile Connect 2012, co-located with Enterprise 2.0 in Boston, is the first event to address the strategic direction that will define enterprise IT for the next decade: building and managing information systems that run on a mobile platform.

For the first time, the event has assembled the leading experts in the fields of cloud computing, social networking, and wireless and mobile technologies—along with real practitioners—to discuss, explore, and debate the technologies, strategies, products, services that will enable the enterprise to use and command information with a degree of fluidity, facility, and productivity never before possible.

Lopez offers a sneak preview of event, saying that many of the sessions will provide a unique view of the market. “At the first level, we’re going to take it beyond BYOD: bringing your own device is now a reality so we’ll be talking about what’s next with enterprise mobility management. Second, how are people mobilizing business processes, not just mobilizing apps but changing business as a result of embracing mobile. And, the event will continue to offer the pragmatic, including mobile application development, and the tools and platforms you should be thinking about.”

Lopez notes that with Enterprise 2.0 happening at the same time, attendees can expect to see some of the E2 social business flavor also filtering in with discussions around the future collaboration session and managing the mobile workforce. Mobile Connect 2012 offers a well-rounded program: what’s happening in applications, devices, business processes and how you change the future forward. An important advantage will be the ability to network with large and small companies, thought leaders and practitioners.

Mobile Connect 2012 is June 18-20, 2012 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts. To register, visit
