With Pittsburgh repeatedly suffering from unhealthy air, PennFuture will announce a new program to help area residents take action to make the region’s air cleaner and healthier at a press conference and rally at 1 p.m., Monday July 2 in the Courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse on Grant Street in Downtown Pittsburgh. Participants in the event include Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Caren Glotfelty of the Heinz Endowments and the Breathe Project, and representatives from Duquesne Light, Choose PA Wind, Community Energy, and Metro Scale Up.

The single most important thing anyone can do to cut air pollution is to change how he/she uses energy and what kind of energy she/he uses. The Summer of Energy program will provide opportunities and incentives for Pittsburgh-area families to clean up the air by switching to Pennsylvania wind energy, and will offer free and low cost help to stop wasting energy and start saving energy and money.
