The growing number of new college graduates joining American Medical Depot, has inspired this fast-paced, technology-driven healthcare distribution company to look for innovative ways to provide value for career-seeking employees by launching an exciting Empowerment Series of discussions!
PRLog - Jun. 2, 2014 - FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- American Medical Depot (AMD) is a company of meeting rhythms.  The day starts at 7:50 a.m. with an energetic, rip-roaring cheer that helps employees make the mental shift from home, maneuvering through traffic and dropping kids off at school before finally arriving at the workplace.  The cheer or, the AMD Ditty, is followed by a breakout where employees assemble by department to celebrate team victories, share important information and play a brief game related to department activities. Various Management and Senior Management level meetings or, check-ins, round out the morning before the beginning of a productive day, the entire process takes a total of 10 minutes.

The growing number of new college graduates joining this fast-paced, technology-driven healthcare company, inspires AMD to offer opportunities to move careers ahead in a way that is a continuation of the formal university/college education.  Beverly Kuykendall, AMD's President of Government Business, notes "...for many new employees, American Medical Depot is either the first or second genuine career experience.  They are excited to be here and feel that they are really on their way.  We wanted to tap into that high-level of energy, fueled by an eagerness to excel in their new careers."

This week, the company launched, the American Medical Depot Brown Bag Empowerment Series. Using videos and discussion guides based on the principles presented in the book, Lean-In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead, by Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, the informal discussions take place during the lunch hour, once every six weeks. Facilitated by Ms. Kuykendall, participation is completely voluntary and department managers do not attend.  There is a commitment to confidentiality as well as quality interaction fixated on personal and professional development.  Those who choose to participate view a 20-minute online lecture from a recommended schedule of materials pre-selected by the facilitator based on the group's interest.  When the group meets, the topic is explored more deeply and the group practices how to put new skills into action.  The video and group discussion includes such topics as, Power and Influence, Communicating with Confidence, Allow Yourself to be Brilliant, and more.  Akhil Agrawal, President of American Medical Depot stated, "We need our people to work with us to achieve the vision of AMD. We offer genuine opportunities to participate in the growth of the company and build something very special for team members, customer partners and local communities.  I am pleased that the American Medical Depot Brown Bag Empowerment Series is so closely aligned with our company vision for growth."
