Industrial Internet Consortium Steering Committee Expands by Two Seats

The Industrial Internet Consortium®, the global public-private organization formed to accelerate adoption and enablement of the Industrial Internet of Things, announced the results of a special election to its Steering Committee. The new members are:

  • Dr. Tanja Rueckert, Executive Vice President IoT & Customer Innovation Unit, SAP
  • John Tuccillo, Senior Vice President Global Industry & Government Affairs, Schneider Electric

They join representatives from the five founding members of the Industrial Internet Consortium (AT&T, Cisco, GE, IBM, and Intel) on the Steering Committee along with representatives from two large industry organizations, one small industry organization, and a nonprofit who were elected by the general membership. The new contributing level members have made a four-year commitment.

"The long-term commitment to the Industrial Internet Consortium made by both SAP and Schneider Electric, in this special new membership category, is outstanding and we are gratified to have their leadership join with our Founders and other Steering Committee members,” said Dr. Richard Soley, Executive Director of the Industrial Internet Consortium. “The broad, international base of our Steering Committee will continue to keep our testbed development program relevant and exciting."

The special election was held to fill seats for Contributing Membership, a new category created to expand governance as the Consortium grows.

“Our new four year commitment as contributing member demonstrates how SAP fully recognizes the tremendous value the IIC brings to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and our SAP Hana Cloud Platform for the IoT. To that end we look forward to continuing to grow and expand our participation in the IIC Testbed, Technology, and Security activities,” said Dr. Tanja Rueckert, Executive Vice President Internet of Things & Customer Innovation, SAP. “I appreciate the trust the founding members have made in electing me to the Steering Committee and look forward to working with the Founders and the other Steering Committee members to collaboratively strengthen and grow the IIC and help promote alignment across complimentary IIoT and IoT activities such as Industry 4.0, which SAP also actively supports.”

“The IIC is gaining terrific momentum globally, building practical methods of adoption for the Industrial IoT across many different businesses and functions,” said John Tuccillo, Senior Vice President, Global Industry & Government Affairs, Schneider Electric. “We are pleased to join the Steering Committee at this critical time, and over the next several year commitment, we look forward to helping lead, build and accelerate these efforts. Together, we see many specific opportunities for IIC collaboration with complementary technical standards and government regulatory communities as well as select industry groups.”

The newly-elected Steering Committee members officially took their seats at the Industrial Internet Consortium’s quarterly members’ meeting in Barcelona, Spain on September 14th.
