Xylem executives participate in 2015 American Water Summit

Xylem Inc. (NYSE:XYL) executives are participating in the 6th American Water Summit this week in Denver, Colo. Xylem President and CEO Patrick Decker will speak at today’s opening plenary session, The Way Forward for the American Water Sector. In this session, Mr. Decker, along with other water sector leaders, will discuss both the opportunities and the challenges in the North American water market. The group will explore current trends in water infrastructure, mergers and acquisitions, new technologies and a new generation of water management stewards.

Mr. Decker will address the linkages between water infrastructure and climate change.

“As water industry leaders, we have the opportunity to help build water-secure communities across the United States and the globe with sustainable technologies and practices,” said Decker. “As our recent report Powering the Wastewater Renaissance concluded, we can eliminate significant harmful emissions from the management of wastewater while lowering the overall cost of operations by investing in energy efficient technologies. These types of smart infrastructure investments today will benefit us for decades to come.”

Earlier in the Summit, Xylem Vice President of Strategy and Business Development Albert Cho led a panel discussion focused on unlocking innovation in the water sector. The discussion explored how some of America’s most innovative utilities and water leaders are overcoming resistance to change, and each panellist shared lessons regarding the successful adoption of new approaches in the industry.

The American Water Summit (AWS) brings together senior executives and top decision-makers from water, energy, finance, technologies and cities to talk about the business of water. The summit is a major annual business meeting for the American water industry and serves as a platform for connecting the public and private sectors. This year, Xylem is a silver sponsor of the meeting.
