Associations, Nonprofits Can Generate Revenue From Members’ Payments, Report Indicates

In a space where every dollar matters, it’s important for associations and nonprofits to identify and monitor members’ payments so they can transform them into a revenue-generating activity, according to the latest edition of the PYMNTS.com Developer Tracker.

This report, done collaboratively with Vantiv, a leading payment processor, focuses on how these organizations handle multiple types of payments, such as member renewal fees, fundraising donations and event registration costs, to name a few. These payments are typically made in-person, online or through the use of a mobile device.

Association management systems, such as Abila netFORUM Enterprise, help organizations by increasing both engagement and revenue.

Industry experts say having comprehensive historical payment data readily available allows organizations to start making more informed decisions about a member’s past behavior and apply that to some of the more complex payment processing operations.

Also in the tracker, you’ll find 119 companies featured in the Developer’s Scorecard. Each company has been separated into three broad categories: shopping and payments, operations and marketing. Companies were then assigned to at least one subcategory. For example, in the operations category, businesses were identified as offering analytics, inventory management and/or fraud prevention services.

New additions to the tracker directory include:

  • 2TouchPOS
  • Agari
  • ChangeJar
  • Delivra
  • Jifiti
  • Mobeam
  • Orderbird
  • Radial
  • Spreadfast
  • X Lab

Some other highlights from the tracker include:

  • X Lab premiered Spendwallet, a smart wallet that can hold information for up to 20 credit, debit or gift cards at one time.
  • Vista Equity Partners has acquired Marketo for nearly $2 billion.
  • The U.K. Cards Association announced that spending via contactless cards in March 2016 reached a record high of £1.5 billion.

The methodology used to compile the report involved searching industry forums, directories of developers that work with merchant acquirers and payment gateways, published research and news coverage for companies that offer payments and/or value-added payments services.
