Ezzell Takes CEO Reins at Dallas Energy

Dallas Energy Group (www.dallasenergygroup.com), an oil and natural gas producer focused on shale gas, hydrothermal dolomite oil, and liquids-rich developments throughout North America, has named Donald G. Ezzell as President and CEO. He will oversee operations from the company’s Los Angeles and Dallas offices.

Mr. Ezzell joins Dallas Energy after serving three years as Executive Vice President for Heckmann Corporation (NYSE: HEK), where he developed the firm’s domestic asset portfolio and headed the growth and acquisitions group. Working closely with Chairman Dick Heckmann, Mr. Ezzell helped launch and grow the NYSE listed company into a leadership position.

In developing the firm’s domestic assets, Mr. Ezzell was instrumental in the formation of Heckmann’s Texas subsidiary, including its 50-mile pipeline and gathering system in the Haynesville Shale. Earlier this year, Mr. Ezzell developed Heckmann’s joint venture with Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE: ETP) to provide infrastructure, gathering and treatment solutions in the Marcellus Shale, and served on the board of the venture, Energy Transfer Water Solutions JV, LLC.

“We built a strong platform for future growth at Heckmann,” said Mr. Ezzell. “It was a great ride and I’m looking forward to taking that knowledge and expertise and putting it to work for another great company.”

He added, “Our Dallas stakeholders are very excited about being in the hunt for several shale and dolomite plays. And, of course, the news is out that we are initiating a $100 million energy and water investment fund and are positioning for future growth, beginning with our first investment in Monterey Shale Partners, LLC.”

Mr. Ezzell returns to an industry he is passionate about. From 2000 to 2008, he served as President of Owl Creek Energy, an exploration and production company in the Barnett Shale. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel to Geoworks Corporation, a publicly listed company in Alameda, California. In addition to his executive positions with two publicly listed U.S. companies, his professional background includes time in private practice with two respected national law firms.

Mr. Ezzell received his Bachelor's of Arts degree from UCLA in 1985 and a Juris Doctorate from Hastings College of the Law, University of California, San Francisco, in 1989.
