DaVita Receives Repeat Recognition as Military-Friendly Employer

DaVita®, the kidney care division of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. (NYSE: DVA) and a leading provider of kidney care services, has been honored with four military employer awards this year, including G.I. Jobs Top 100 Military Friendly Employers, Military Spouse Magazine Top 100 Military Friendly Spouse Employers, Military Times EDGE Best for Vets, and CivilianJobs.com Most Valuable Employer for Military.

This marks the fourth year in a row that G.I. Jobs has recognized DaVita as a Military Friendly Employer. The ranking is based on a survey assessing companies’ long-term commitment to hiring those with military service, recruiting and hiring efforts and results, policies for Reserve and National Guard members called to active duty, military spouse programs, and the presence of special military recruitment programs. While about 5,000 companies are eligible for the award, only 2 percent make the list.

“I never thought I would find the same levels of leadership, integrity and esprit de corps once I left the Army,” said Katie Ingram, a regional operations director at DaVita who served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. “I was wrong. I have found all of the above and more working with DaVita. I can honestly say, I am as proud to work for DaVita as I was to wear my uniform."

Recent numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the unemployment rate for veterans overall is lower than the national average; however, veterans who separated from service after Sept. 11, 2001, have a higher rate of unemployment than the national average. Female veterans separating from service after Sept. 11, 2001, have a particularly high rate of unemployment.

DaVita Chief People Officer Laura Mildenberger urges employers to appreciate the skills and experience military veterans bring to their civilian jobs.
