In The Escape Artist, Tennant continues his post-Doctor Who career with another blistering performance in a thriller; following his turn in one of the biggest television events of the year: ITV’s Broadchurch.

Here, the Scottish actor plays Will Burton, a junior barrister with more talent, intellect, wit and charm than any of his peers; one that has yet to lose a single case. Burton has a seemingly perfect life, complete with wife, child and idyllic country home.

This life has been built on his ability to defend clients in seemingly impossible situations and get them off the hook. But when his talent helps the prime suspect in an horrific murder trial to walk free, his brilliance comes back to haunt him in frightening and unexpected ways.

The Escape Artist is written by David Wolstencroft, the creator of the BAFTA award winning TV spy drama Spooks. The three-part series also features an all-star case which includes Sophie Okonedo as rival lawyer Maggie Gardner, Extras star Ashley Jensen as Burton’s wife Kate and Toby Kebbell in a chilling turn as shady criminal Liam Foyle.
