Celadon Trucking Honored as 2013 General Merchandise Platinum Carrier of the Year by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Celadon Group, Inc.’s (NYSE: CGI) Celadon Trucking Services today announced that it was awarded by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) its prestigious General Merchandise Platinum Carrier of the Year award. "When Walmart chooses a carrier partnership, we look for companies who provide outstanding service, effective communication and for a company that will exemplify Walmart’s mission to 'Save people money so they can live better,'" Kevin X. Jones, Walmart Vice President of Inbound Transportation said in a letter of commendation. “Walmart is fortunate to have worked with many companies that have accomplished this task; however Walmart acknowledges that Celadon has exceeded our expectations.”

Each year, Walmart honors 13 carriers for exemplary performance from among the more than 400 transportation suppliers delivering to Walmart distribution centers. Eligibility for the Walmart Carrier of the Year award is based on key performance metrics such as customer service, operational excellence and the ability to offer creative solutions to Walmart’s complex supply chain opportunities. Winners are chosen by a team of associates within Walmart stores.
