PRLog - Jul. 1, 2014 - SAN DIEGO -- Congratulations to Joel Martinez of Lincoln Military Housing (LMH), who was one of 20 finalists to participate in the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) 2014 Maintenance Mania National Championships. Joel competed on behalf of LMH, the San Diego Apartment Association and Region X on Friday June 20th at the Colorado Convention Center.
Competition started in August of 2013 when more than 4,000 maintenance professionals competed in qualifying events hosted by 60 local National Apartment Associations. Contestants were eliminated until the top 20 finalists were selected to compete in Denver at the National Apartment Association Education Conference and Expo.
Maintenance Mania® is a national program offered by NAA and presenting sponsor HD Supply (HDS). The event consists of several skill-based contests created from common maintenance activities. All games are timed to determine the fastest competitor in each game and overall. There is also a model race car competition where participants build their own race cars prior to the event, aiming to have the fastest and most creative car built out of maintenance supplies.
Each NAA local affiliate has their maintenance technicians compete individually to win various local awards and a chance to compete at the National Championship held at the annual NAA Education Conference & Exposition. Heading into the competition Joel held a competitive overall time of 1:38:161 which he gained in the regional competition held in San Diego in April. At this year’s National Championship, Joel took home second place in two of the six competitions - Duo Flush Toilet Conversion and the Ceiling Fan Assembly.
This is Joel’s second year competing in the National Championship and his third year with LMH. LMH is honored to have such a driven individual as a part of their family and would like to congratulate Joel on his huge accomplishments!
